Good things just take time

The subject line is a song by the Gaither Vocal Band, gospel music recording artists.
If you've heard of them, awesome. If not, it matters not.
This message was inspired by the song "Good Things Just Take Time".
But the core of this message is that good things just take time.
Time ... patience ... climbing ... trying ... trying again.
This is what life is made of. There are no legitimate "fast fixes" or "get rich quick" schemes out there.
Well, some might try to sell you on said schemes, but it would be a fast "no sale" if you ask me.
Good things take time. Want to be a lawyer? While many others from my high school and college classes were out earning paychecks, I was in law school.
Not earning much at all. Struggling at first ... and then, successful.
Three extra years of school and then about a year to pass the Tennessee bar exam and to secure a bar card.
Am I rich? Well, in a sense, I am.
Am I rich in the conventional sense of the word? No.
Am I lacking for anything? The answer is, once again, No.
Twenty-four years in, have I used my legal skills to help people?
No doubt about it.
In fact, as I type this email broadcast on the final Tuesday night of April 2025, I hope that my legal skills and life skills are, in a sense, helping you, too, gentlemen.
More wisdom from scripture. Specifically, the book of James in the New Testament - opening verses:
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
No, guys: The Bible was not written in English. Over the centuries (thankfully), it was translated into English. The upshot is this: Perseverance = Patience.
All things in life worth obtaining are worth waiting for. After all, we are on God's time - not our own time.
So let the wait begin. And let the anticipation begin, too.
